Impact of antithrombotics on the fecal immunochemical test for colorectal cancer screening : a multi-center Belgian experience

چکیده
Background : Impact of antithrombotics on the fecal immunochemical test (FIT) for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening remains unclear. Methods Patients undergoing colonoscopy positive FIT in 2015 were assessed at 3 Belgian centers. Significant findings advanced polyps (AP) (sessile serrated, tubular or villous adenomas >1cm high-grade dysplasia) and CRC. False detection AP/CRC with calculated. Results 510 patients (64% male, median (IQR) age 63.2 (60.2-66.4) years) included. Colorectal pathology 371/510 (73%) was associated male gender (70% vs. 48% ; p= .0001) family history (16% 8% .02). Antithrombotics 125/510 (25%) (78% 59% .0001), older (65.2 (62.2-70.3) 62.3 (58.7-66.3) years GI-symptoms (18% 11% .04). (25% 28% .52) AP (42% 36% .27) CRC (6% 5% .69) similar no antithrombotics. Use did not predict a higher chance after adjusting confounders. Conclusion Although prescribed more frequently patients, similar. Despite increased GI symptoms, false

Clinical impact of the immunochemical fecal occult blood test for colorectal cancer screening in Brazil
BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer (CRC) screening programs based on the fecal occult blood test (FOBT) reduce CRC mortality. We carried out an observational prospective study to determine the accuracy of immunochemical FOBTs for the detection of CRC in individuals at average risk for the disease. METHODS This population-based study was performed between April 2015 and January 2016 in two gastroent...
متن کاملSelecting a Cut-off for Colorectal Cancer Screening With a Fecal Immunochemical Test
OBJECTIVES Fecal immunochemical tests (FITs) for hemoglobin (Hb) are increasingly used for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. However, cut-offs for defining test positivity are varying widely. We aimed to evaluate the impact of cut-off selection on key indicators of diagnostic performance in a true screening setting. METHODS We evaluated diagnostic performance of FOB Gold, a widely used quant...
متن کاملImmunochemical fecal occult blood tests for colorectal cancer screening.
BACKGROUND The superiority of several immunochemical fecal occult blood tests (I-FOBT) over guaiac-based tests in colorectal cancer screening is now established. The aim of this study was to compare the analytical performance of 3 quantitative I-FOBTs. METHODS Stool samples from 10 healthy volunteers, initially I-FOBT negative, supplemented with human blood, were used to compare reproducibili...
متن کاملThe Optimal Cut-Off Level of The Fecal Immunochemical Test For Colorectal Cancer Screening in a Country with Limited Colonoscopy Resources: A Multi-Center Study from Thailand
Background: Selecting the cut-off point for the fecal immunochemical test (FIT) for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening programs is of prime importance. The balance between the test performance for detecting advanced neoplasia and the available colonoscopy resources should be considered. We aimed to identify the optimal cut-off of FIT for advanced neoplasia in order to minimize colonoscopy burden...
متن کاملImplementation of population screening for colorectal cancer by repeated Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT): third round
BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the most common cancer in Europe with a mortality rate of almost 50%. The prognosis of patients is largely determined by the clinical and pathological stage at the time of diagnosis. Population screening has been shown to reduce CRC-related mortality rate. Most screening programs worldwide rely on fecal immunochemical testing (FIT). The effectiveness of a F...
